Psychology Now Pricing

Psychology fees

Recommended rate

The Australian Psychological Association recommended rate for Clinical Psychology in 2022 – 2023 is $280 for a 50-minute psychology session with the initial assessment fee of $406 for an 80-minute session. Psychology Now charges less than these rates. Please contact me for further information regarding fees on 0468 440 295.

Initial consultation

The initial consultation is 80 minutes. A longer session is required to do an initial assessment and determine the best course of treatment and therapy for your specific needs. Fees can be paid by cash, debit or credit card (1.95% fee is incurred on any card transaction which is not collected by the Practice). Fees are to be paid at the end of the appointment or direct debit prior to the session.

Standard consultation

A standard consultation is a 50-minute therapy appointment. Fees can be paid by cash, debit or credit card (1.95% fee is incurred on any card transaction which is not collected by the Practice). Fees are to be paid at the end of the appointment or direct debit prior to the session.

Other services

Fees and appointment lengths alter slightly for other services, eg for 61 to 75 minutes or 76 to 90 minutes and for report-writing. Please contact me for more information about these services.

Rebates available

Rebates for psychological services are available from several sources including:

Medicare

Under the Medicare ‘Better Access to Mental Health’ scheme, clients with a diagnosable mental health condition can obtain a rebate of $129.55 for each session. This rebate is for up to 10 therapy sessions in each calendar year. To be eligible to receive the rebate you must visit your GP, Psychiatrist or Paediatrician and obtain a referral for psychological services as part of your overall treatment plan.

If you have reached your Medicare family ‘safety net’ threshold for the calendar year, the rebate will be almost all of the session cost.

Private Health Fund

Most private health funds provide rebates for psychological services depending upon your level of cover. Please contact your health fund to find out more.

Cancellations

Cancellations, No Shows & Appointment Changes

By engaging in therapy, it shows a commitment to attend the appointments which have been reserved for you.  As a courtesy, a two-way auto-text reminder is sent 48 hours prior to the appointment time to remind you of your upcoming appointment. The auto-text reminder asks for confirmation via return text or to phone the Practice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Cancelling or rescheduling between 24 and 48 hours allows the appointment time to be offered to another client and helps minimise waiting times.

Cancellations and session changes without 24 hours’ notice, or no shows at the reserved appointment time (especially once confirmed), incur the full session fee. Cancellation fees cannot be claimed through Medicare or through a private health fund.

Psychology Now understands that, at times, unforeseen circumstances may occur, such as illness. However, it is important to advise us as soon as possible when a cancellation may be likely.
